• Floors we install

Types of flooring installation we take on

Different rooms want different floors, and the Lowcountry's humidity narrows the field more than most people expect. Here's what we lay and where each one makes sense.

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring installation

Hard-wearing and far more forgiving of humidity than wood, which is why it has taken over so much of the Lowcountry. The planks themselves are waterproof; the floor as a whole still wants a sound subfloor, and every dip underneath telegraphs through.

Hardwood floor installation

Solid and engineered, installed, sanded and refinished. It's a trade of its own, so it has a page of its own — hardwood flooring.

Laminate flooring installation

A budget-friendly option that reads like wood from standing height. We'll be honest with you about where it belongs and where it won't hold up.

Tile and stone floors

Porcelain and natural stone, set level with even joints. The right answer for bathrooms, entries and anywhere water lands. See the tile page.

Subfloor prep and levelling

The part nobody sees and the part that decides everything. We check flatness and moisture before any material goes down, and we tell you if the subfloor needs work first.

Trim, transitions and thresholds

Shoe moulding, thresholds and the joints between rooms, finished so the floor ends cleanly instead of trailing off at the doorway.

• How it works

How a flooring installation runs

Step 01 · Consultation

We measure the rooms, check the subfloor and talk through which material suits how you use the space.

Step 02 · Estimate and plan

A written estimate by square footage, with any subfloor work called out before it becomes a mid-job surprise.

Step 03 · The install

Prep, then lay. We keep the site tidy day to day, because you're living around the work.

Step 04 · Walkthrough

We walk every room with you and check the transitions and trim before we call it finished.

• Common questions

Flooring installation questions, answered

Which flooring holds up best in Charleston's humidity?

Tile and luxury vinyl plank cope best with moisture, which is why they dominate ground floors, bathrooms and anywhere near the water here. Engineered hardwood is more stable than solid over a slab. Solid hardwood is still a fine choice upstairs and in conditioned space — it just wants a steadier environment. We'll tell you what suits your particular rooms rather than pushing one product.

How much does flooring installation cost?

It's priced by square footage, and the material you pick can swing the total more than the size of the job. Subfloor condition is the other variable — a floor that needs levelling costs more than one that doesn't. We measure on site and give you a written price that separates material, prep and labour, so you can see what's driving the number. Free.

Do you remove and dispose of the old flooring?

Tear-out and haul-away of the old floor can be included — tell us at the consultation and it goes on the estimate as its own line, so you can see what it costs rather than finding it folded into a lump sum.

Can you lay new flooring over what's already there?

Sometimes, depending on what's down, how flat it is and how much height you can afford to add at doorways and appliances. It's not automatically the cheaper route, and it can trap a problem underneath. We'll look and tell you straight whether it's a good idea in your house.

Do I need to move the furniture myself?

Talk to us about it at the consultation and we'll agree who moves what before the crew arrives, so it's settled in writing rather than negotiated on the morning of day one.

Do you do flooring as part of a larger remodel?

Yes. You can hire us for a single room of flooring or for a full renovation where the floor is one piece of it. Same crew either way — see home remodeling.
